July 4, 1922 – April 6, 2014
EDWARD WALLACE HINKEL, age 91 passed away Saturday after an extended illness. He was born in Akron to the late Emerson and Myra Hinkel. He was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, Eagles #2370, VFW, AARP, Moose Club and the Sons of Herman Club. Ed was schooled at the Howard Trade as a machinist for 3 years. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1987 after 45 years of service. He also worked as an aircraft repairman at the Akron Airport. He enjoyed sports, dancing and repairing lawn mowers. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary (Lyras) Hinkel, daughters Kim Tittle of Akron, Elaine Oliver of East Sparta, Sherri George of Canton, Stefanie (Tony) Libertore of North Canton, sons Gary Hinkel of Arizona, Kevin Hinkel of Akron, 9 grandchildren Michele Miller, Jorden, Alexis and Jaret Oliver, Nicholas, Mikayla and Emma George, Isabella and Luke Libertore, Michele and Jeff Lewis, 3 great-grandchildren Haylie Oliver, Caleb and Cody Miller, brother-in-law George and Linda Lyras. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm at the Rossi Funeral Home. Trisagion Services will be at 7:00pm Wednesday. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11:00am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church.
