Obituary

Elaine Vallos, 85, passed away unexpectedly on Friday November 28, 2025. The daughter of Harry and Beatrice (Christopoulos) Vallos, she was born May 20, 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Canton, OH who also lived briefly in Philadelphia, MN and NJ. Elaine married her childhood sweetheart, Lee G. Giavasis, in 1960. They divorced but remained close friends throughout the years. She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Bea, brother John Vallos, former spouse Lee (Roberta) Giavasis, sister-in-laws Stella Vallos, Donna Vallos, Arbutus Giavasis, beloved cousin George Pantages and Romalue Langos and her best friend, Nadine Alexiou along with numerous beloved pets especially Silky, Charlie, Mandy, Nia, Pablo and Daisy. She is survived by daughter Argery (Karen), brother Chris H. Vallos along with grand-daughter Jenna, sister-in-laws Darlene Cross and Hannelore Brown, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Elaine was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church and the Daughters of Penelope. She was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School (1958) -- Secretarial TIVO Head Typist 4, Intermural Volley Ball Champ 3, Homeroom Representative 2 and Booster Club 1, 2, 3, 4. She held many different jobs throughout her lifetime (The Canton Repository, Cheton's Furniture Store Executive Secretary, The Hoover Company, Canton City Building and Police Departments, AFSCME Union Steward, Stephens Agency Realtor, and GE Collector). However, her proudest accomplishment by far was owning Beadnik Bead Shop with her daughter Argery.

Whether designing jewelry or crafting, she had a creative eye and made many unique and beautiful pieces. Her jewelry was purchased and sold by Best Buy Corporate Store in Minnesota. Elaine was ahead of her time in many ways. She had an interest in alternative health and wellness for both people and pets including advocating for pet insurance before they both became mainstream. She loved wearing black long before it was chic! Mostly, she enjoyed the simple things: she loved being home with her dogs, spending time with family, LeBron and the Cavaliers, Greek dancing at the Greek Tavern, the occasional whiskey sour, a good cup of coffee with an apple fritter, shopping at Fishers, Pier 1, the Flower Factory, Raisin Rack, Swenson's, perusing antique stores and shops—especially hospital gift shops (where she always found the perfect gift). She loved her time in Philadelphia where she lived in a converted mansion and worked on Broad Street while frequenting Rittenhouse Square. Most especially, she loved taking numerous drives with her daughter spending time talking and reminiscing about life and her favorite spots in Canton. From the beginning, their bond was like no other. They were truly best friends who could finish each other's sentences. They spoke on the phone numerous times a day and saw each other daily for the last 6 years. Her strong quiet way, gentle heart, love for dogs and all animals and fiery passion about the things she cared deeply about will be missed by all. She was a true Taurus: strong, steadfast, loyal and true. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any no-kill animal shelter or dog pound of your choice. Calling Hours Monday, December 8th from 6-8pm at Rossi Family Funeral Home with Trisagion Prayer service to be held at 7:00pm. Funeral Services Tuesday December 9th at St Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church at 11am with a 10am viewing, Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
