Elena Carrelli, aged 93 years, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2026. She is survived by her sons Antonio Carrelli and his wife Kris, and Steven Carrelli and his wife Louise LeBourgeois; her grandchildren, Dario Carrelli and his wife Abigail, Jennifer Sheets and her husband Mike, and Cory Holcomb; her great-grandchildren Sebastiano Carrelli and Andrew Sheets; her sister Fulvia Ciarlariello; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Agostino Carrelli, in 2017, after 62 years of marriage.
Elena Pia Ciarlariello was born in San Biase, Italy, on June 1st, 1933, to Antonietta Bagnoli and Domenico Ciarlariello. She married Agostino Carrelli of Fossalto, Italy, in 1954, and they moved to Rome, where their first son, Antonio, was born. In 1965, the family immigrated to the United States, living first in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to be near Agostino’s sister Lucia DiFonzo and her family, and then settling in Canton, Ohio, where their second son, Steven, was born. Elena and Agostino lived in Canton for 45 years, and in 2011 they moved to Zionsville, Indiana, to be near their children and grandchildren.
Elena was a skillful tailor and seamstress, and she took her work very seriously beginning as a teenager in Italy. In Canton, she worked first at the Parisian, a department store, before beginning her own shop, Elena’s Fashions, out of her home. Eventually, she renamed her shop Elena’s Bridal and Tux Center, with a focus on bridal gowns and formalwear. Elena loved her work and took great pride in doing a good job. Even after retirement, she continued to design and sew items ranging from clothes to backpacks to stuffed toys for family and friends.
Elena had a strong and independent spirit. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she took great joy in spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed hosting family meals and was delighted when the whole family gathered together.
She is deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Brian Smith as celebrant. Entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
