Eleni C. (Shiepis) Manos age 63 of Canton, passed away Monday evening surrounded by her loving family. Born in Canton to the late Very Rev. Fr. Constantine G. Shiepis and Presvytera Panayiota Bertha C. (Christu) Shiepis, she was preceded in death by her first husband Mark Kounouzvelis. Eleni graduated from Glen-Oak High School and the University of Mount Union with a degree in English. She was the former co-owner of Christu Bridal Shop in Canton and the developer and founder of First Row Centre for the Arts. She was passionate about bringing people together and based First Row around her mission statement of "Each One, Teach One." She was a devoted life-long member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon. Eleni is survived by her husband George Manos, daughters Panayiota Nanetta (Christopher) Kounouzvelis-Williams, Mary Manos, Anna Manos,granddaughters Symeon,Sevastiane, and soon to be grandson Williams, sisters Haritina (Michael) Kakoules, Dena (John) Bahas, brothers Dr. George (Shari) Shiepis, Rev. Dn. Dr. Kyriakos (Melissa) Shiepis, Godchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews, and Jack Dowdell who was like a son to her. Eleni was a faithful servant of her Orthodox faith and was the most steadfast mother, yiayia, wife, sister, nouna, and aunt above all else. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 4th, from 9:30 to 11:30am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon with a Trisagion prayer service at 10:30am. A private funeral service for immediate family only will follow at a later time presided by His Eminence, Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh, Rev. Fr. Spyridon Kehayes, Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas, Rev. Fr. Constantine Valantasis, Rev. Dn. Dr. Orestes Varonis, and Rev. Dn. Dr. Kyriakos Shiepis. Private interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eleni's name may be made to the Endowment Fund at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon.
