Elie Y. Sabella, age 90 of Canton, passed away Sunday evening, May 21, 2017 . Born in Damascus, Syria to the late Joseph and Mohiba (Sabbagh) Sabella, he was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony, Albert, Michel and Andre Sabella. Elie was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He was a voracious reader, wine connoisseur and enjoyed discussing politics. He is survived by his wife Samira with whom they celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 22, 2017. His love and dedication to his wife was evident to everyone who knew him. He is also survived by his children Sam Sabella of Atlanta, Ga, Camille (Paula) Sabella of Richfield, OH, Lila Sabella Levendoski of Westerville, OH, grandchildren Carmen, Julia, Annmarie, Melissa, Michaela, sisters-in-law Justine Sabella, Cecile Sabella and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving father and grandfather, and was adored by his entire family. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 am. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Third Order Society of St Francis, Province of the Americas, in Elie's name.
