ELIZABETH J. BETROS, died peacefully on Thursday, February 6th in Bath Township, Ohio in her 103rd year. She was born July 19, 1911 in Rochester, PA, the daughter of Hannah and Nicholas Betros of Canton. Bette, as she was known to her family and friends, was educated in the Canton Public Schools and then moved to Detroit, Michigan where she began a long employment with the Bank of the Commonwealth. While in Detroit she pursued her lifelong interests of photography, travel and especially opera and classical music. She was an active member for many years of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul of Detroit and later St. George Antiochian Church of Detroit. Upon retirement, she returned to Canton where she continued to pursue her many interests and became an active member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters: Michael Betros, Katharine Betros, Edna Esber (Alex F.), John Betros, Rachel Blair (Edmund L.) and Rose Kelly (Richard R.), her nephew Ferris Esber and her niece, Nancy Blair. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Joyce Esber of Canton, William P. Blair III of Hills and Dales, Elaine Betros (George) Of Montreal, Canada, Thomas A. Esber (Kathy) of Foster City, California and Christine Kelly-Mack (Michael T.) of Bath Township. She is also survived by many grand nephews and nieces and great grand nephews and nieces. She was a woman who lived her faith and loved her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday February 17 at the Rossi Funeral Home, Rev. Fr. Michael Corbin officiating. Friends may call at 10:30 at the funeral home. Internment will be in Westlawn Cemetery. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Canton or to a charity of the donor's choice.
