June 1, 1928 – November 26, 2015
Elvira "Tiny" Mata (Corsi) passed away on Thanksgiving morning after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 87 years old. Tiny was born on June 1 st , 1928 in Canton, Ohio to her parents Albert and Lena Corsi (DeAngelis) who preceded her in death. Tiny was a hardworking woman and put everyone else first. Her favorite things to do were to cook for her family and keep her house spotless. The house could never be clean enough. Tiny was a homemaker for many years to keep house and make the best Italian meals. When her daughters were raised, she became a Unit Aide at Aultman Hospital. She retired after nearly 15 years of service. One of her greatest accomplishments was winning a city-wide volleyball championship in the 1960's. She is also a member of the Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. Tiny was a member of the Miraculous Medal Sodality and an avid Polka dancer. Nearly every Sunday Tiny danced at Rolando's or the Polish Club. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Louis R. Mata, to whom she was married for 44 years; her brothers Guido Corsi and Albert Corsi, Jr. Tiny is survived by her daughters Kathy of Canton, Sheila of North Canton and Tina (Tony) Cugini of Canton; her brotehr Anthony "Tony" Corsi of Canton; and the love of her life and only grandson, Christopher Cugini of Canton and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family wants to extend a huge thanks to Aultman Hospice, Dr. Tamburro and the awesome staff of the Laurel Valley at the St. Luke Lutheran Community in North Canton. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home (730 30 th St. NW). Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish (1530 11 th St. SE), where Tiny was a life-long member, on Monday at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
