Mrs. Emily Nicholas Herraiz died at her home in Canton, Ohio on November 14 at the age of 87. Survived by husband Fidel Herraiz, sons Steven of San Francisco; and David and his wife Jessica Herraiz of Copley, Ohio; daughters Michele Herraiz of Canton; Laurie Herraiz of San Francisco; and her beloved grandchildren Houston Conners, Carmen and Roman Warder, and Hannah Herraiz. She is proceeded in death by her parents Sicar and Philip Nicholas, brothers Samuel El Faye and George Nicholas, sister Elizabeth Fernandez, nephews Alan El Faye of Manhattan Beach, CA; Ray Fernandez, David Rossetti of California; and her beloved dog, Diggity of Canton. She was born in on October 8, 1928 in Canton, Ohio to Philip and Sicar Nicholas. She graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1946. She married Fidel Herraiz in 1960 and worked at Timken Roller Bearing Company as a "Key Punch Girl" until the birth of their first child in 1964. Over a period of nearly 6 years, the couple welcomed 4 children into their home. Her children remember her as a terrific cook and baker who always opened their home to all the neighborhood children for many years. She was an active volunteer and dedicated member of both Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church and St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. Emily was an accomplished Class B bowler for many years and a world-class cook. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home and Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 am followed by services at 11:00, Rev. Fr. Michael Corbin officiating. Trisagion service will be Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Louis Shaheen for his care and compassion. Also to Aultman Palliative Care and Hospice, with a special thanks Margaret, Nurse Joyce and Christine. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Akron Childrens' Hospital Foundation or St. George Antiochian Orthodox.
