Emril Dawson, age 88 of Canton, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2018, after a brief illness. Emril was born on February 5, 1930 to the late Lester and Dora Dawson. He was retired for from Republic Steel where he worked for 35 years. After retirement, Emril and his wife Mary loaded up their "bus," as they called it, and spent the next 20 winters traveling to Florida. He also loved hunting with his son.

Emril is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary; sister Lola Hitzel; son, Michael (Donna) Dawson; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Jesse) Dawson and Laura (Brian) Steenrod; four great-grandchildren each of whom had a very loving and playful relationship with their Papa, Jenna, Evan, Ellie and Leah; his second family Vince, Barbie, Alexis and Gia DePasquale; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with his parents, Emril was preceded in death by his sisters, Freda and Juanita. Special thanks to the caring staff at Mercy Medical Center, Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center in Louisville. We will always remember Papa for his contagious laughter and joy he spread to everyone he met. Per Emril's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Rossi Family Funeral Home (730 30 ^th St. NW, Canton, OH 44709). Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
