Ernest "Ernie" P. Ianni, age 90 of Canton, passed away Monday, February 28th. Born in Belmonte, Calabria, Italy to the late Vincenzo and Emilia (Porco) Ianni, he was also preceded in death by brothers Frank and Guido Ianni. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the McKinley Eagles Aerie #2370. He was Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Ernie retired from the City of Canton Traffic Sign Department in 1984 after 26 years of service. He loved playing golf, having 11 holes-in-one. He was also an avid swimmer.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Helen (Facchini) Ianni, nephew Joe (Betsey) Ianni, niece Lisa Reid, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Edward Beneleit as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
