Ernest V. Yerkey, age 98 of Canton, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024. Ernie was born on November 21, 1925, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy M. Sanders and stepson Robert Fadorsen. He is survived by his son, Steven V. (Cherrie) Yerkey; grandchildren, James (Kristen) Worley, Dana Yerkey, Andrea Howard; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ernie was a proud WWII Navy Veteran who fought in the Pacific. He was also an umpire/referee for 55 years, and was later inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
