Esther M. (Tatarides) Kaplanis, age 88 of Canton, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 24, 1936 in Canton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Helen Tatarides, her husband of 59 years Aris, and her brother George Tatarides. She is survived by her children Anthony, and Helen (John) Harsh, her beloved grandchildren Jonathan, Kate, and Anthony Jr., sisters Melanie McCauley, and Kathy (Brian) Murphy of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Godson Peter Pergins, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Esther was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the church choir, Sunday School teacher, Koreas Lades Society, and Senior Citizens Club. Esther enjoyed spending time preparing Greek specialties and her Jello desserts for family and friends, attending family reunions and in her later years vacationing at the beach with Helen, John and Jonathan. The family would like to thank the staff at Sarah Care and JRC for the joy and comfort they brought to Esther. Family and friends will be received Thursday morning from 10 to 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Services will begin in the church at 11:00 am with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Halkias officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Esther's memory.
