Eva Garcia age 97 of Canton passed away Friday evening at Hanover Healthcare Center after a brief illness. Eva was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on November 15, 1916 to the late Joseph and Armanda Balcarcel. She was member of The Basilica of St, John the Baptist and a former member of the Guild of St. John. Eva was also a member of the Spanish-American Women's Club and a retired employee of the Canton Board of Education. In addition to her parents Eva was preceded in death by her husband Frank on January 11, 1982 , her grandson Stephen Garcia, two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Frank and Marie Garcia of Canton, daughter Linda Karman of Canton, three grandchildren Frank A. Garcia, Michael Karman and Stephanie Russell and four great grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:15 am at The Basilica of St. John the Baptist with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:30am with the Very Reverend Ronald M. Klingler , Rector, as Celebrant. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made the Spanish American Women's Scholarship Fund or The Basilica of St. John the Baptist.
