IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fedor
Kapustin
June 6, 1926 – March 17, 2018
Fedor (Fred) Kapustin of Canton, beloved father, husband, Grandfather and friend of many, passed away on March 17, 2018 in Dublin, Ohio with family at his side. Family and friends will be received at St. George Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church at 4667 Applegrove Street N.W., North Canton, Ohio 44720 on Wednesday, March 21 st for viewing at 10am, with funeral services immediately following also at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church on Wednesday, March 21 st at 11am with Reverend Father Aleksa Pavichevich officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton, Ohio. Rossi Family Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements. Fedor was born in Kiev, then the Ukraine region of the former U.S.S.R. on June 6, 1926 to the late Timofey Jakovlevich Kapustin and Ekaterina (Vladimirovna) Kapustin, each of Russian descent. He was also fondly raised by his loving grandmother, Anna (Iwanovna) Davidova and grandfather, Vladimir Petrovich Davidova, who was a commissioned artist in Russia that worked on a special artwork project for the Royal railway cars, undoubtedly passing the artistic talents to Fedor, a very accomplished artist. He was displaced during World War II and was thankfully naturalized in the U.S. where he contributed faithfully to the lives of many. Fedor had a distinguished 33-year career in Electrical Design at American Electric Power, starting in New York, then relocating to Canton before concluding his career in Columbus. He was involved in charity work and devoted a great deal of time to the church and especially the bulletin at St. George. His primary contribution to the Shield bulletin was as official artist through which he shared various original creative religious images for the publication. He also volunteered tirelessly in helping many new Russian, Ukrainian and other Eastern European immigrants find their way in their new homeland, including translating for them for daily needs, area agencies, doctors, and especially at Aultman Hospital. He enjoyed sharing the Russian language with various private students in the Canton area. Fedor was also a talented writer, being an active member of the Writer's Guild in Canton. He often wrote in his journal, but also was greatly devoted to an English translation of a Russian language work that detailed the tragedies of the Stalin-era and attacks on the Russian Orthodox Church, with witness accounts shared by many, but also of noteworthy displaced Russian Orthodox clergy including the late Archpriest Sergey Kargay (his son Vlad's Godfather). His wish was to have the translation published, and his family will continue in these efforts. Fedor was also a very talented artist, and he shared his love of art with many, including creating an art gallery in his apartment at Brookdale Muirfield Assisted Living. He opened his apartment to other residents to share his love of art and his select paintings and drawings, and they were enjoyed by many. He brought his artistic influences to photography which he also found time to enjoy. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Tatiana, of Canton; He is survived by his sons Vladimir of Dublin, Ohio and Nikolay of Greenville, SC; Grandchildren Alexandra and Niko of whom he was a proud fan of all their athletic activities, the children of Vlad and Jan Kapustin; and Christopher Kapustin son of Nikolay Kapustin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ohio Health Foundation – Kobacker House, 180 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215, or to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 4665 Applegrove Street, N.W., North Canton, Ohio 44720 . Condolences may be left in Fedor Kapustin's online guestbook at http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/cantonrep/ The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Muirfield for their exceptional care and support of our loved one, Fedor. A strong man of deep faith, we wish to especially thank Father John Stavropoulos of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral and Father Aleksa Pavichevich for their prayers and comfort of our loved one, Fedor. May his Memory be Eternal.
