Flora (Mazzaferri) Tortora, formerly of Brewster and Canton, passed away at Amherst Meadows on Saturday morning. She was born in Brewster, Ohio on August 8, 1928 to the late Giovanni and Lucia (Ventura) Mazzaferri. She graduated from Brewster High School and was employed by the Nickel Plate Railroad and Republic Steel Corporation for many years. She was married to James Tortora for 8 years before his passing in 2007. She is survived by her step-daughters, Marie (Michael) Hoeprich, Diana (Gary) Oakerson, Josie (the late John) Bentz, step-sons, James Jr. (Jody) Tortora, Joseph Tortora, and many grandchildren. She has one living sister, Mary (Mazzaferri) Crimaldi, and was preceded in death by brothers Elvio, Oliver, and Anthony and sister Angelina (Mazzaferri) Bowman. Flora was a member of St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish in Canton and the I Gagliardi Italiani. She loved to sing and travel. Visitation will be at St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Tom Kraszewski as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish.
