Frank J. Alessandro, age 89 of Canton, passed away Sunday morning after a brief illness. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 11, 1925 to the late Giuseppe and Carolina (Forosetta) Alessandro. Frank moved to the Canton area with his family in 1941, and married Josephine C. Betro on his 23 rd birthday in 1948. He was a graduate from McKinley High School, and a member of Little Flower Catholic Parish since 1963. He was a retired U.S. Letter Carrier and served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy. Frank was a skilled carpenter, and a master of many trades. He enjoyed golf in his later years and was an avid fisherman in his younger years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Carl. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josephine; four children Carolyn (Ray) Buckridge, of Louisville, Joseph (Becky) Alessandro, of Canton, Frank (Lori) Alessandro, of Canton, and Jim (Karen) Alessandro, of Dunedin, Florida. Frank leaves behind 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother, Anthony (Mary) Alessandro, and sisters Mary (Jim) Cugino and Angie Spitale. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Little Flower Catholic Parish, with Rev. Fr. Leo Wehrlin, celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends will meet a the church Thursday morning where the procession will form.
