IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frederick A.
Scharler
November 12, 1934 – November 17, 2017
Frederick A. Scharler, 83 of Canton, passed away November 17, 2017. Born in Ronco, PA, he graduated from German Township High School. He and his brother, John, started a business together in 1957, Veterans Window Cleaning, in Cleveland, OH. Then other businesses followed, Shore Carpet and Hope Development. He was a true entrepreneur through and through. Fred loved helping people and making them happy; he didn't know a stranger, and was a friend to everyone he met. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, and was a 3 rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Cleveland. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Fred loved being with his family; those were the times he was happiest. Molly and Sheba brought much joy to him and he loved them so. Fred loved Polka music and dancing, so he and his wife, Marian, would go to as many Polka outings as they could. They also traveled to many places in Europe and in the States, and always had a fun time being with their friends. He also loved restoring old cars, and was constantly lending a helping hand to someone. Fred was preceded in death by parents, Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Nindel), and daughter Donna Polz. He is survived by his loving wife Marian, of 20 years. His children, Kimberly Bertolone-Rosen, Fred Jr., Karen (Duane) Mason, Debbie (Ed) Wiles, son-in-law John Polz, brothers and sisters Kay (Norman) Ward, John Scharler, Joann Cianciolo, Bob (Debbie) Scharler, David (Cathy) Scharler, Linda (Dan) Pevelecky and brother-in-laws Mike and Alex Maximovich. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. The family would like to thank Rev. Fr. Don King and the chaplains at Akron General and Aultman Hospice, as well as the wonderful people – Claudia Clark, Robin Hill, Angelica, and Debbie – who took care of him in our home. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 28 th from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Parish and Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Don King as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, OH. Donations may be made to the Heart and Lung Association.
