Foradas
May 18, 1923 – March 20, 2022
Foradas, George J. a loving husband, father, and grandparent, was born in Canton, Ohio May 18, 1923 and lived here much of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Dimitrios and Militsa (Stavropoulos) Foradas, brothers Gus, Robert, and Peter. Survivors include his loving wife Sophia, his sons James and Christos Foradas, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Stevie (Foradas) Abraham, nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends. George's lifetime service to our country began as an ARL Ham WA8YII (1939-1941), and included combat service in Europe as a U.S. Army Signal Corps soldier (1943-1945), and as a Department of War, AFSA and DOD Contract Technician beginning in the Korean War in 1950. His declassified military and civilian career is summarized in articles and links at the Rossi Website. Calling hours are Wednesday 5 to 7 pm in the Rossi Funeral Home, and Thursday 10 to 11 am in church. Trisagion Services will be held at 5:30pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 am in St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will be in Northlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saint Haralambos Church Greek School, and the National Cryptological Museum, Fort Meade, Maryland.
