Obituary

George E. Macrides, age 93 of North Canton, went home to his savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 19, 2024. He was born in Canton on September 23, 1931 to the late George and Irene (Garcia) Macrides. He graduated from Timken Vocational High School. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Mike and Bill Macrides; sister Pauline Allatzas. George is survived by his devoted wife Bertha Macrides of 72 years, with whom he shared a full life of love, laughter, and joy together; cherished daughter Lisa Lambrou; adored sons Mark (Rena) Macrides and Christopher (Karyn) Macrides; seven beautiful grandchildren Scott, Marc, Elizabeth, Matthew, Marisa, Calista, and Dane; five great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Dylan, Astoria, Allie, and Aiden; and one great-great-grandson Connor.

George was a family man; his wife and children were his pride and joy. His love and support were steadfast. He loved watching his kids and grandkids at their sporting events and activities; he was their biggest fan.

George enjoyed times with his friends, golfing, and fishing. He could be found having coffee at McDonald's and cracking jokes with a straight face. He was a sports enthusiast watching and cheering for all of the Ohio teams. When he was younger, he played on many championship fumbleball and softball teams. George touched the lives of everyone person he came in contact with, always making you feel special and left a trail of friendships everywhere he went.

Throughout his life, he was a devout Christian. He had served on the board for the church he loved - Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He was also active in the church's Men and Senior Clubs.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aultman Hospice, and especially the VA Home Health Care team for the amount of care, love, and support they gave George – as he was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral services will begin in the church at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Halkias officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
