GEORGE M. MOKODEAN, 92, died peacefully in his sleep on December 5, 2013. George was a WW II veteran, serving as a navigator in the Army Air Corps. He flew in B24 Liberators in the Pacific War Zone for three years. He was stationed in Japan for a year after the close of the war. Holding a Master's degree in Education from Kent State University, George was a teacher in Canton Public Schools where he taught mathematics, economics and drivers education for 30 years. He opened his own school, the Canton Driving School, which he operated for 17 years. After George retired from teaching, his hobbies were yard work and duplicate bridge. He taught bridge and was a duplicate bridge director for a number of years in Canton and was an ACBL Life Master. He was a member of the Canton Bridge Club and the McKinley Unit duplicate bridge organizations. George was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elisabeth Mokodean, and his sisters, Aurelia Gabor and Helen Fitch. He is survived by his wife, Rose, his brother Michael John Mokodean, and his two sons and their families: Louis A. Mokodean and his wife Olena, and George D. Mokodean and his wife Frances. He had five grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Gregory, Joseph, Laura, Vlad and Aleks Mokodean who all provided him with much joy in his later years. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery with full military honors will be on Monday at 11am.
