Glenn A. Ebey, age 99, passed away peacefully on March 2nd, 2024. He was born, in Canton, February 23, 1925 to John and Estella (Fyock) Ebey. After attending McKinley High School, Glenn joined the US Army in the summer of 1943. After basic training and medical corp training, he shipped off to England where he participated in the D-Day landing at Omaha beach. As part of the first Army under the command of Omar Bradley, Technical Sergeant Ebey went into Belgium and the Ardennes Forest where he offered medical assistance to soldiers wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war in Europe ended, Mr. Ebey returned to Canton where he married Dorothy Rose Grosschmidt and raised a family. He worked at Superior Meats in Massillon until his retirement in 1987. Glenn had a deep love of flying and owned several planes throughout his life. As an adult, he also rekindled his childhood love of dancing and became a member of a local clogging dance group.
Glenn is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Neal) Fisher of West Salem, Emily (Greg deceased) Huber of Marshfield, WI, Cathy Haley of Pensacola FL; three sons, Glen (Sue) of Bonanza, OR, Paul (Debby) of Canton, and James (Karen) of Canton; fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife Dorothy; daughters Theresa, Jean (Tom) Brosnahan of Marshfield WI, and Mary Ann (Rick deceased) Parrott; son Joseph; and three grandchildren Bridget and Emily Brosnahan of Marshfield WI and Clayton Fisher of West Salem, OH.
Calling hours will be at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, 730 30th Street, NW, Canton OH, from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, March 10th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Little Flower Catholic Parish, 2040 Diamond St SE, Canton OH at 11:00 am on Monday, March 11th. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
