Gregory James Michalek, age 65 of North Canton, passed away Saturday in Aultman Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Canton to the late Walter and Jane Michalek, he was preceded in death by his sister Katherine Michalek, uncles and aunts Bernard (Norma), Henry (Elizabeth) and Edward (Katherine) Michalek. He was a 1968 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Walsh University in 1972 with a Bachlors of Science Degree in Business. Gregory worked for Magnetek (formerly Ohio Transformer) and then Power Asset Recovery Corporation before retiring. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and basketball. He is survived by his daughter Melissa (Adam) Sterner, grandson Jacob Sterner, aunt Martha (Eugene) Piccari, numerous cousins and countless friends, including special friends James and Shelva Woodward. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 9 to 11am at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with Memorial Services to follow at 11:00, Rev. Fr. Edward Beneleit officiating. Private internemt will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
