IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gust
Christopher
January 17, 1920 – September 5, 2018
Gust Christopher
(Constantinos Christoforou)
Gust Christopher, age 98, passed away September 5, 2018 after a short illness. He was born in Mosfiloti, Larnaca, Cyprus on January 17, 1920. Gust, along with his wife Helen and 4 children, emigrated to the United States on July 17, 1950. Gust was employed by the Sugardale Provision Company, retiring after almost 33 years of service. He was also a former owner of Katina's Beauty Salon for several years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church since 1950 and truly loved his church family. He served his church community in many ways. He was elected Man of the Year at Holy Trinity and was also a Parish Council member, a member of the Stewardship Committe, Senior Citizens Club and Men's Club. Gust was one of the original Holy Trinity Grecian Festival souvlaki cooks and mentored others to take his place as he got older. He was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings and his wife Helen. He is survived by his four children and their families. Son Andrew (Karen) Christopher of Peterborough, Ontario, granddaughter Susie. Daughter Ann (Steve) Lazarides of Canton, grandson Steve (Alexsandra) Lazarides of Copley, granddaughter Andrea (Mark) Condodemetraky of Laconia, New Hampshire, Daughter Chris Gonzales of North Canton, grandchildren Marina (Derek) Gonzales and Andrew (Jolene) Gonzales. Daughter Erene Augustyn of Toronto, Ontario, grandchildren Kyra (Ryan) Augustyn of Hamilton, Ontario and Nicholas (Cait) Augustyn of Toronto, Ontario. Gust also had 6 great grandchildren, Ben, Tommy, Nicky, Deano, Alexi, and Niko. He was very proud of all of them. Pop will always be remembered for his role as peacemaker. He always wanted people to get along in spite of their differences. He was always for the working man and understood the hardships that men suffered. He was very poor growing up but somehow managed to overlook the bad and keep moving in a positive direction. We will miss him dearly. Our thanks to Father Daniel Rogich and the parishioners of Holy Trinity for their caring and love, the good people at Windsor Medical Center where he spent the last five months of his life. In addition, many thanks to his good doctors, Alexsandra Mamonis MD and Milania Valore MD; we would have lost him a long time ago had it not been for them. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with services to follow at 11, Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4705 Fairhaven Avenue NW, Canton, Ohio 44709 .
