Hans H. Steingraf, age 76 of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He was born in Santiago, Chile on April 16,1940 to the late Alfred and Ana Steingraf. Hans graduated from the University of Chile with a Master Degree in Civil Engineering. He and this young family arrived in the United States in 1970. Here, he received his MBA from Syracuse University and a Master of Arts from the University of Akron. Hans worked for Diebold in the International Department and Mosler for many years, after which he was a Spanish professor for Kent State University. He was also the owner of Hamilton Safe International since 1989. He was a member of the North Canton Rotary Club, and loved the opera and classical music. He was fortunate to travel the world with his wife of 51 years. Hans is survived by his wife Elena (Gre) Steingraf; children Elena (Peter) Meeks of Atlanta, GA and Elizabeth (Chris) Todd of Canton, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law Alfred and Maria Teresa Steingraf of San Francisco, CA. Also survived by four grandchildren Nicholas and Alexander Boyko, and Christopher and Jonathon Todd. Per Hans' wishes, a private celebration of life will be held with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
