IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harriet "Beth"
(Hesselink) Routhier
March 11, 1926 – April 21, 2018
Harriet 'Beth' Routhier, age 92, of Canton, passed away early Saturday, April 21, 2018. 'Beth' is the middle name her daughter Cherrie gave her as none of her family had middle names. She was born on March 11, 1926 in Rudyard, Michigan to the late Henry and Mary (Mouthaan) Hesselink. Throughout her years she took advantage of all that was offered while living in Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Harriet's passion for sewing became her life long career as a seamstress for several bridal shops in Canton. When she was not creatively sewing, she could be found gardening amongst her beautiful flowers or enjoying nature, especially waterfalls, woods, and the family's favorite beach along Lake Superior. As an avid hiker she earned her 1,000 Miler badge at age 80. She was a member of the Hilltop Hikers. For many years she was found whirling and twirling with the Swing A Lings and Red Lantern Flames Square Dance Club and she created all of her square dance dresses. She enjoyed board games, puzzles, was an avid card player, and a ferocious Scrabble player. She is survived by her daughters Glenda Jean Routhier Hall of Florida and Cherrie Marie Routhier of Wisconsin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Glen J. Routhier, brothers Andrew, John, Harry, Walter, Howard, and sisters Marie, Geraldine, Genevieve and Gertrude. She was known to never miss sending her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, aunts, uncles, friends of the family birthday cards. Her home was a supportive, loving and caring place for many of her nieces and nephews. Friends of her daughters, were always welcomed as family. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 1 to 1:30 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with services to follow at 1:30 pm , Rev. Darla Ann Kratzer officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to any botanical garden or arboretum of your choice.
