Obituary

Harry P. Trace, age 99 of Canton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. He was born on October 8, 1926, in Malvern, Ohio to the late Frank and Amelia (Baldassini) Trace. He graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1944, and after proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Harry furthered his education later with studies at Purdue University and Arizona State University. Professionally, Harry worked as the Postmaster at the Middlebranch post office from 1975 until his retirement in 1991.

Harry’s passions were many. He was an avid gardener. He loved sports and engaged in softball, golf, bowling, bocce, and fishing, as well as coaching Holly Hills Little League Baseball. Harry also enjoyed supporting his Italian community by serving on the Stark County Italian American Festival Committee and managing the bocce ball courts at Weis Park. He was involved with RCIA and Marriage Renewal at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

Along with his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Trace; brothers Al, Gust, and Jim Trace; and sisters Mary Sirpilla, Jeanette Ventura, and Louise Cavalier. He is survived by his children, Dr. Amy Trace (Chris Ward), and Karen Trace; and grandchildren Arielle Ward, Rhianna Ward, and Ethan Trace.

Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Internment to follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
