Helen Mappoura Christopher, age 92 of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017. She was born in Kiti Larnaca, Cyprus to the late Savvas and Chryssi Mappoura. Helen was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church from the time she arrived in the United States in 1950. She belonged to the Koraes Ladies Society and the Senior Citizens Club. Helen loved her family and was an excellent seamstress, cook, and baker. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers Andreas, George, and Dimitri. Helen is survived by her husband of 73 years, Gust; son Andrew (Karen); daughters Ann (Steve), Chris and Erene. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Susan, Steve (Alex), Andrea (Mark), Marina (Derek), Andrew (Jolene), Kyra (Ryan), and Nicholas; six great-grandchildren Deano, Niko, Alexi, Nicky, Ben, and Tommy. Helen also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews in her homeland. Family and friends will be received Friday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Services will begin at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank Rev. Dr. Dan Rogich, the staff at Aultman Hospital, and The Inn at Belden Village for their compassion and gentle care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
