Helen J. Diamant, age 92 of Canton, passed away Thursday evening. Born in Maryville, Missouri to the late Sam and Eva (Poulos) Johnson on December 22, 1922, she was a Canton resident for most of her life. She was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, Philoptochos Ladies Society who honored her as a Woman of Distinction, Senior Citizens of St. Haralambos, and the Daughters of Penelope Chloris Chapter #4. Helen was a retired teacher in the Canton City School system having taught for 32 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Christ Diamant, daughter Linda Diamant Sommer, and sister Nota Johnson. She is survived by her daughter Janet Diamant of Anaheim Hills, CA, sons Steven Diamant of Canton, Christopher (Ikumi) Diamant of Elkridge, MD, granddaughters Stephanie and Alyssa Diamant both of Canton, great-grandson Jonah Diamant of Elkridge, MD, brothers Mike (Kay) Johnson of Denver, CO, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 11 am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with funeral services to follow at 11:00, Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas (St. Haralambos) officiating and Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich (Holy Trinity) co-officiant. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Helen's name may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church Endowment Fund.
