Howard C. Mahon age 89 of Canton, passed away early Saturday morning at his daughter and son-in-law's farm. Born in Canton to the late Howard and Evelyn (Hughes) Mahon, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn (Brown) Mahon, brothers Richard and Robert and sister Marcy Buckley. Howard attended McKinley High School and was an Army Air Corp veteran of WW II. He worked as a Canton City patrolman, Boron GMC Truck Garage as a Master Mechanic, Canton City Schools as a Boiler Engineer, Ohio Power Company as a truck mechanic and retired from East Ohio Gas Company after 18 years of service. Howard was an avid fisherman and member of the Louisville American Legion and the Nimishillen Grange. He is survived by his children Kathy and Edward Katich, Mark H. and Michele Mahon, grandchildren Matthew, Amy, Mark II (Alyssa), Adam (Monica), great-grandchildren Zachary, Bryan, Rachel, Brayden, Addison, sister-in-law Janice Lazzaro and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with services to follow at 12:30, Rev. Diana Thompson officiating. Internment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer.
