It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jacob L. Yeager, who left us on June 21st after a brave battle with military service related brain cancer. He was 40 years old. A life resident of Canton and North Canton. Born on January 30, 1984. Jacob was a beloved son, bother, and friend.
Jacob will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and the love he shared with those close to him. He is survived by his mother Denise (Black) Yeager of North Canton; brothers Bill Craig of Canton and John Yeager of North Canton; sisters Raquel Schillinger and Sarah Yeager both of Canton; two nephews Kohl (Callie) Craig and Cody Schillinger both of Canton; one niece Britney Schillinger of Canton; one great-nephew Kash Craig; and his cats Keba and Greta and dog Trent. They will forever cherish his memory and the impact he had on their lives.
Jacob was a dedicated Army Veteran who served his country for 7 years with honor and courage. He was deployed in Iraq for a year. His service and sacrifice were a testament to his unwavering commitment to protecting and serving others. He was a SGT with the Calvary Scouts.
He grew up with a passion for helping others and a strong sense of duty, which led him to join the military. His time in the Army was marked by his bravery and camaraderie with his fellow soldiers, who became like family to him. Jacob earned many medals and awards in his ARMY career, including Iraq Campaign Medal w/two Campaign Stars, ARMY Achievement Medal, (4th Award), ARMY Commendation Award (2nd Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, ARMY Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Professional Development Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award).
After returning from service, Jacob faced health challenges with the same courage and resilience that he showed on the battlefield. His fight against brain cancer was a testament to his strength and determination, qualities that inspired everyone around him.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, playing cards and being around family and friends.
Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Veterans' Organizations or the Humane Society in his memory.
Jacob's legacy of service and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
