James (JD) F. Davis, age 65 of Canton, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Medical Center after a battle with cancer. Jim was born in Canton on June 30, 1951, to the late James and Geraldine Davis. He was a graduate of McKinley Senior High School. Right after graduation, Jim was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Upon returning to Canton, he continued with his passion for ball playing Class A baseball, softball and fumble ball for various teams. In 1993, he was inducted into the Stark County Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. Jim was a retired employee of Sun Ohio Company. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary (Mammone) Davis; sister Kandi Davis; daughters Michelle (Davis) Sales and Melissa Davis; stepchildren Michael (Lisa) Poorman, Sara Rollo and Vincent (Hannah) Rollo. He is also survived by grandchildren Lauren and Haleigh Sales, Alex Miller, Ty and Emma Poorman, Delsin Rollo, Alexis Sealock and great-grandson Major Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mark Prestier Memorial Fund – MVP –Clear Label, 1861 Markley St. N.W. North Canton, Ohio 44720. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 11 ^th from 3-7 p.m. at Hog Heaven, 2730 Cleveland Ave. N.W. Canton.
