IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Charles
Donohue Iii
September 9, 1942 – July 11, 2022
James Charles Donohue III was born on September 9, 1942 in New York City to the late Muriel and James Donohue II. He passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 after an extended illness. His family feels very blessed that he survived a pancreatic cancer diagnosis for five years, giving his family and friends additional time with him.
Jim graduated from Copiague High School in Long Island, NY. He went on to graduate with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He received his MBA from Kent State University. He spent his entire career at the The Timken Company, and retired after 45 years of service. After retiring, he started his own steel sales business, Metallurgical Products Inc.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Edna and Antonio Cardinale, as well as his brother-in-law Salvatore Cardinale (Theresa).
Jim's passion in life was his wife and his family. He married Barbara (Cardinale) on September 27, 1964. He leaves behind four children, James Charles Donohue IV (Katy), Dr. Thomas Donohue (Kerstin), Kristen Guardado (Vince), Kelly Petkunas (Jim). He also leaves behind the lights of his life, his 10 grandchildren, Megan, Hayley, James V., Elaine, Thomas, Vincent, Nicholas, James, Alexandria, and Christina. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lillian Garelli (Michael), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim would want everyone to celebrate his life by toasting him with a shot of Dewars and remembering the love and laughter he shared with all of us. Whether it was Met Lab volleyball, games at Timken Park, Indian guides, golf league, golf trips, dinner with friends, cheering on the Yankees, Indians and Browns, or his favorite pastime traveling, he loved life! Wherever you are, think of Jim and all the joy he had in his lifetime.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 16th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Canton, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jim's name to Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio where Jim took his granddaughter Megan riding every Wednesday for many years (www.fieldstonefarm.org or mail donations to Fieldstone Therapeutic Riding Center - 16497 Snyder Rd.
