Obituary

Jane A. (Cordier) Pope, age 92 of Canton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was born on September 27, 1933, in the Edgefield area of Canton, to the late Willard and Helen (Brankel) Cordier.

A 1951 graduate of Timken Vocational High School, Jane furthered her education through the Cadet Teaching Program at Kent State University. Her education continued with the Leadership Program at the University of Houston, the Executive Development School at the University of Connecticut, and the Ohio Savings & Loan Academy at Ohio University. These academic achievements laid a strong foundation for her future career in banking.

Jane dedicated many years to the financial industry, beginning with her 44 year long career at Citizens Savings Bank. She ultimately retired in 1995 as the Senior Vice President and Lending Division Manager of First Merit Bank.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jane was deeply involved in her community, giving her time to numerous boards and committees. She was a valued participant in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival, The United Way, Protective Service for the Aged, the Domestic Violence Project, Quota Club, YMCA, United ARTS, Walsh College Fund Drives, Canton Women’s Club, and the Canton Edgefield AARP Chapter #2267.

Along with her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Pope; daughter, Mona Budrow; sister, Carol Sponseller, and brother, John Cordier.

Jane is survived by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Chamberlain; six cherished grandchildren, Melanie (Patrick) Gardner, Jennifer Dyer, Sara (Brandin) Broucker, Daniel (Michelle) Budrow, Dr. Katheryn (Dr. Jordan) Holliday, and Lindsey (Shawn) Wilson; 16 great-grandchildren, Allison Gardner, Hailey DeVore, Miah Gardner, Emma Gardner, Colton Gardner, Hayden Gardner, Maggie Stiles, Gracie Dyer, Presley White, Hunter Broucker, Fisher Broucker, River Broucker, Dominic Budrow, Anthony Budrow, Joey Budrow, Mia Budrow; and 5 great-great grandchildren, Ryder Shipp, Apollo Shipp, Athena Shipp, Roman Stiles, and Arthur Stiles. She is also survived by her sisters Sally Larke, and Lucinda (Robert) Miner; brother David (Bonnie) Cordier; many special nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on June 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Edward Beneleit officiating. Interment to follow at Henry Warstler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.
