JEAN HELEN (JACOBS) SCRIMA, age 83 of Canton, passed away Friday evening after an 8 year battle with cancer. She was born in Canton to the late Stephen and Tessie Jacobs. A member of the Church of the Covenant, Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher and friend. She loved her family and the Canton community. Her second home in Naples, Florida was a place where she made life-long friends and enjoyed the surroundings of beautiful scenery. Jean was an avid bridge and tennis player, who also enjoyed gardening. She took pride in her appearance as well as her home. Jean retired from Canton City Schools with over 40 years of dedication. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Louis Melvin Scrima, daughters Rebecca Jean Slingluff (fiance' Willis Thomas), Elizabeth Ann Amireh, grandchildren Ashley Jean Slingluff, DJ Amireh, sister Dolly Kester and nephew Ross Jordan. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 10 to 11am at the Church of the Covenant (3014 Fulton Dr. NW), followed by services at 11am, Dr. William Watt officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, flowers and memorial donations may be sent to the Church of the Covenant.
