Obituary

Jean Matinides was born in Katerini, Greece, and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 15 with her mother, Olga Vafides, and brother, Alex Vafides, to reunite with their father, Tomas Vafides.

Jean was a devout woman who accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age and exemplified God's love to her family and friends. She cherished spending time with her family and enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting, and crocheting. Jean loved attending Fellowship Baptist Church, where she had many dear friends.

Her friends and family rejoice in knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior in glory. Jean will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tomas and Olga (Rafilides) Vafides and husband George Matinides. Jean was a loving mother to Liz (Mike) Sullivan, and Chris (Brenda) Matinides, a loving Yiayia (grandmother) to Chris Sullivan, Michelle Petrak, Alexa Matinides, Brooke Matinides, a loving great Yiayia (great grandmother) to Dax and Bryn Sullivan, and Cade Petrak. She is also survived by her brothers Alex (LaVerne) Vafides, and Harry (Irene) Vafides.
