IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanette H.
(Albert) Tomey
January 11, 1929 – January 29, 2026
Jeanette Helen (Albert) Tomey, of Canton Ohio, peacefully went home to the Lord, with her husband by her side, on January 29, 2026. Born on January 11, 1929, she was 97 years young. She was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School. Her life was centered around her family, faith, and an ever expanding group of friends. Known affectionately as "Jeannie," she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother or "little Sitto." She was the life of the party and a master in the kitchen, often serving up delicious food while spreading joy and laughter.
Jeannie was active in her faith and during her healthy years tried to attend every church service. Her generosity was exemplified in one of her favorite ways to spend her time - making friends with people in various nursing homes, while bringing them gifts and spreading good cheer. Some knew Jeannie as "the angel lady" because she would wear over 70 angel pins on her shirt as she went about town. Her legacy of love and caring for others lives on in those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving and supportive husband of over 68 years, James Tomey; her two adoring children Nick Tomey (Tanya) and Sharon Albaugh (Dan); and beloved niece Bette Lou Wegar (Tom). She was a blessing to her grandchildren Melissa Albaugh, Amanda Allton (Brandon), Daniel Albaugh (Pam), and Nicole Smith (Joseph). She was blessed with her great-niece Sophia; many great-grandchildren Shayonna, Brycen, Brantley, Brexton, Brooklynn, Adelaide, and Jordan James; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss her deeply.
We rejoice in knowing she is now happy in Heaven with her Lord, family members, and many friends that have preceded her in death, including her parents Louis and Mary (Davis) Albert; and her cherished siblings Bette Jane Charles, Nick Albert, and Adele Albert.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church on Cherry Ave. Canton, Ohio. Funeral services to begin in the church at 11 AM, with the Very Reverend Fr. Michael Corbin officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
