JENNIE M. (SCAFATE) FERNANDEZ, age 92 of Canton, passed away Monday evening. Born in Canton to the late Nunzio and Anna (Mancuso) Scafate she was preceded in death by her son Richard Fernandez and brother Joseph Scafate. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Alter and Rosary Society and a 1940 graduate of McKinley High School. Jennie is survived by her husband of 68 years Benedict Fernandez, children Ruthanne (James) Simms of North Canton, Robert Fernandez of Green, Craig (Kathi) Fernandez of Columbus, daughter-in-law Gail Fernandez of St. Louis, Missouri, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and brother Robert Scafate of Canton. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 9 to 10 am at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with services to follow at 10 am, Rev. Fr. David Weikart officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
