John Bikis, Jr., age 92 of Canton, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2016 in his own home surrounded by his family he loved the most. He was born on September 27, 1924, and was the son of the late John, Sr. and Anica Bikis. He was a proud Veteran of World War II serving in the Navy for 3 years. His job was to take the soldiers in for invasions in the Atlantic and Pacific areas. John graduated from Timken High School, and was an amazing athlete who played four sports, including football, basketball, baseball and golf. John was enshrined in the Stark County Baseball Hall of Fame, as a knuckleball pitcher. He graduated from Kent State University, and went on to work on his masters at The University of Akron. John worked at the Ford Motor Company in Engineering for 37 years, while teaching at Timken and McKinley High Schools. He retired and enjoyed life with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's events, in which he never missed one. Johnny was an avid golfer in his day and loved his time on the golf course. John was the most loving, humble and kind man. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Tillie Widican. Surviving family includes his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Bikis; sister Aurelia Brinzea; son Greg (Cassie) Bikis; and daughters Karen (Dave) Spalding, and Sherry (Richard) Regula; 7 grandchildren John R. (Adriana) and Jeffrey Bikis, Stephen (Jodie), Michael, and Jaclyn Spalding, Thomas and Garrett Regula. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral from 5 to 8 p.m. A Saracusta service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m at the church, with The Very Rev. Ovidiu Marginean officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral 1123 - 44 th Street N.E. Canton, OH.
