John F. Blackledge, age 88 of Canton, passed away Sunday morning. Born in Massillon to the late John and Margaret Blackledge, he was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. John served in the United States Air Force in the Philippines during World War II; he worked at Hercules Engines for 48 years, where he was the payroll manager. John was a polio survivor for over 60 years. He was part of the Independent Order of Foresters for 60 years, and was a local officer of the Foresters for 40 years. He enjoyed following the Indians, going to OSU football games, and playing cards; John was also a member of Santangelo's Monday Night Bowling League, where he was presently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the league. He was preceded in death by his wife Olga, his two sisters Ruth Cecil and Frances Pryor, and his great-granddaughter Trina Hanlin. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Bunting of Canton, son Robert Blackledge of Canton, and sister Dorothy Mckinney, of Massillon. John is also survived by four grandchildren Libby (Brandon) Hanlin, Jenny Bunting, and Rachael and Claire Blackledge; and four great-grandchildren Sebastian, Julian, and Violet Hanlin, and Paul Bunting. Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A brief prayer service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev.
