John (Ioannis Kallentzis) Kalengis, age 72 of North Canton, passed away Thursday, May 5th. Born in Athens, Greece to the late Athanasios and Yalene (Orfanides) Kallentzis, he was preceded in death by his brother Stavros Kalengis. John studied at the University of Athens and later earned his degree from the University of Akron in Economics Law. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2009 after 25 years of service.

John is survived by his wife of 43 years Evniki "Nikki" (Hionides) Kalengis, children Yalene Kalengis and fiance' Lorenzo Del Carlo, Thano Kalengis all of Houston, TX, sister Katia (Droso) Megkou, nieces Rosa (Akis) Megkou, Yalene (Aris) Kalengis, Fofo (Manos) Kalengis, and Maria (Vasili) Kalengis all of Greece.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 14th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Whipple Heights Alliance Church with services to begin at 11 a.m., with Pastor Noah Henkel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in John's name, may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Whipple Heights Alliance Church or your favorite charity.
