John R. Morabito 1920-2017. Age 97 of Canton, went to be home with the Lord and his beloved wife, Eleanor, on Monday, December 18, 2017 at his place of comfort with his family. Born in Conifer, PA on April 14, 1920 to the late Bruno and Antonia Morabito. He attended Emerson and St. Joseph Elementary Schools and Washington High School in Massillon, OH. He worked at Baltzly`s Drug Store for two years before enlisting in the Army/Air Force on October 1, 1941, where he attended radio school in St. Louis until the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He spent four years in the service, with two years overseas in Africa, Italy and Southern France. John was honorably discharged in 1945, where he went to work at ATT&T. He retired with 38 years of service in 1983. He loved gardening, golfing and dancing at Myers Lake Ballroom, where he met his wife of 68 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eleanor; brothers Joseph (Kay), Dan (Eleanor); sisters Mary DeOrio, Kate (Howard) Simentz, Fortunata (Jim) Mazziotta and Rose (Jim) DeLong. He leaves behind his children Shari (Robert) Audia, Rick (Cheryl) Morabito and Deb (Larry) Walton; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. John was the best father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all. Funeral services will be at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. Followed by a procession to Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Roads Hospice.
