Perlog
September 4, 1925 – January 7, 2014
JOHN J. PERLOG, age 88 of Canton, passed away Tuesday evening. Born in Canton to the late Michael and Mary (Plaver) Perlog, he was preceded in death by his wife Rita (Minocchi) Perlog. A member of St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish, John attended St. Anthony's Grade School then attended McKinley High School. He started working at a neighborhood grocery as a clerk and delivery man. Upon turning 18, he enlisted in the Army and served under General George Patton during WW II as his personal driver. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After his military service he started working for Canton Drop Forge, first in the factory then as a messenger driver, retiring after 40+ years of service. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Josette and James Kark of Canton, son and daughter-in-law John M. and Carolyn Perlog of Louisville, sisters and brother-in-law Annabelle and Charles Maack of Wichita, Kansas and Paula Miller Keegan of Canton. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 am at St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish with Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop, celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in John's name may be made to St. Anthony's church building fund.
