Shincovich
March 18, 1942 – April 27, 2025
John T. Shincovich, 83 passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio. John was born on March 18, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania.
John always put the love of family and his grandchildren first. He loved attending his grandkids' baseball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer games as well as their concerts and school activities. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a lifelong avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed playing golf, fishing, working outdoors, and fixing cars.
He married Cathy Krivokucha in 1964 at St.George Orthodox Church in Youngwood, Pennsylvania. Early in his life in Greensburg, Pennsylvania he worked at Allegheny Power Systems, the electric utility and taught engineering classes at Westmoreland County Community College. Over the years, they lived in State College and Greensburg, Pennsylvania. His career took him to Lexington, Kentucky and Canton, Ohio. He always enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife Cathy. His favorite destinations were San Francisco and Carmel, California, the Carolina beaches, and Disney trips with his grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Huntington High School and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He also took business classes at Carnegie Mellon University. John was a Licensed Professional Engineer and held several patents. He had many professional accomplishments throughout his life leading various electrical manufacturers including Kuhlman Incorporated in Kentucky and E.J. Brooks Company in Michigan and Ohio. Most recently, he became an Adjunct Professor at Stark State College in Canton where he enjoyed sharing his technical expertise in electrical systems with his students.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Cathy and his father John and mother Stella. He is survived by his son Michael E. (Yvonne) Shincovich of Alexandria, Virginia; his daughter, Jackie (Dimitrios) Pousoulides of North Canton, Ohio; his grandchildren, Christina Shincovich (Ryan Meuth), Michael A. Shincovich, and Stef Pousoulides; his brother, Jim (Susan) Shincovich of State College, Pennsylvania; his sisters-in-law Michelle (Rick) Bononi and Melony (Gary) Musgrave; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including cousin Alice Sharrow. He was specially proud of his children and grandchildren who were always the light of his life. A private service for the family was held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with the Reverend Father Nicholas Halkias officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all care givers at the Compassionate Care Center and Aultman Hospital for their unmatched care for John. Funeral services were arranged and managed by Rossi Family Funeral Home in Canton.
