John Henry Smith, age 75 of Massillon, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023. Born in Massillon to the late Joseph Smith and Helen Joanne Smith-Scheetz, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Gabi Sabatino, infant brother Thomas Smith, and nephew Adam Tully. John was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School, and after attended the Timken Company apprentice program. He loved tractors and anything with a motor, farming, working with his brothers, and any activity with his grandchildren. He would do anything for anyone and loved to show others how things worked. He is survived by his wife Claudia (Bongini) Smith, children Lisa Marie (Michael) Emrich-Bobey, John Henry Smith II, Don (Jodi) Sabatino, grandchildren Alexander (Bunny) Emrich, Zachary (Rachel) Emrich, great grandchildren Parker and Chloe. Also survived by siblings Helen Covington, Kate (Tim) Bryan, Bernard Smith, Rosemary McDew, Joan Tully, Tim (Cindy) Smith and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with services to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
