Obituary

John J. Vega, age 64 of Canton, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014. John was born in Canton, Ohio on March 28, 1950 to the late Manuel and Esther Vega. He will always be remembered for his wisdom, generosity, and steadfast love for his family and friends. John served as a mentor for those around him, readily giving meaningful guidance and advice. He was admired for his courageous, never-give-up attitude and for constantly encouraging those around him. He was passionate about golf and found a sense of peace on the golf course. He was an active and dedicated member of Christ the Servant Parish at Our Lady of Peace and recently served as Finance Director. A graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School and the University of Akron, John had a strong work ethic and went on to accomplish great things in the business community. While attending college, he started his career as a part-time worker on the shop floor of Jackson-Bayley Electric. Through years of dedication and hard work, he earned numerous promotions and eventually became company president. John continued a long career in executive level positions with Emerson Electric, ABB and Dover Hydraulics. Most recently John was the co-owner of Cartridge World of North Canton where he and his "loving bride" of 40 years, Norma Vega, opened the franchise and dedicated eight years to serving customers. They were ranked as a "Top 10 Franchise" in the country for several years. John is survived by his devoted wife, Norma Vega, daughter Tricia Vega, son Jonathan (Shawnda) Vega, precious grandson Alexander Vega "Our Guy", sister-in-law Mary Lou Vega, brother Paul (Cheryl) Vega, sister Rosemary (David) Forgach, brother Leonard (Andrea) Vega, mother-in-law Juanita Shaheen, sister-in-law Georganne (James) Martin, sister-in-law Sonia (David) Eisenbrei and many nieces and nephews whom he loved so very much. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Esther Vega and brother Ronald Vega. Thank you to the many doctors, nurses and healthcare personnel who provided care, support and comfort throughout the years. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rossi Family Funeral Home.
