John J. Vesely, age 86 of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. He was born in Canton on June 23, 1934 to the late Steven and Julia Vesely. John graduated in 1952 from Timken Vocational High School, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He later was employed by the Timken Company, retiring after 44 years. A major sports enthusiast, John was a Class A baseball player; he played through high school and even into his time in the military, which lead him to play in Japan and Korea. John was proudly inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Chiaramonti) Vesely. He is survived by his children John (Ann) Vesely, Kristine DiFiore, and Lynn Ann Vesely; brother Bill Vesely; and grandchildren Sarah, Michael, Nicholas, William, Megan, Amanda, and Kyle. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to join at Calvary Cemetery for a graveside service on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Gary Smith officiating.
