JOSEPH A. CAVELLA, JR., age 68 of Canton, beloved husband, loving father and grandfather, passed away Friday evening after an extended illness. Born in Canton to the late Joseph Sr. and Julia Cavella, he was preceded in death by his son Joseph A. Cavella III. A graduate of Canton McKinley High School he was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Parish. He was retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad. Survived by his wife Linda L. (Massaro) Cavella, children Josette and Pete Houghton, Robert and Maria Koellner, Michael and Emily Koellner, Misti Mellinger, Michael Davis and his wife Debbie, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Sue Cavella, sister Marlene Diano and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home where a Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Parish with Rev. Fr. Benson Okpara, celebrant. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Joe's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
