Obituary

Joseph C. Comanitz, age 73 of Canton, passed away Sunday, October 30th. Born in Canton to the late Joseph and Teresa (Nicozini) Comanitz, he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Comanitz, Jr. and brother-in-law Thomas Watt Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and a graduate of Walsh University with a B.S. in Computer Science. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox Company after many decades of faithful service.

Joe had been a volunteer for the Big Brothers Association as a young man, and enjoyed spending time with his Little Brother. He was also a volunteer for the Canton JC's. He was an avid bowler, achieving a 300 game and a 299 game during his career. Joe enjoyed nothing more than vacationing in Las Vegas. The call of the cards and the slot machines was music to his ears. Joe was an avid "arm chair quarterback" following more than a couple of teams at a time.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia (DiCarlo) Comanitz, daughter Andrea (Sean) Johns, beloved grandchildren Carlin Rose Marie Dick, Amilia Rose Johns, Sean Lewis Johns, Jr., Carly Anne Johns, sister Elizabeth Watt, niece Kelley (Jerry) Salmons, nephew Thomas (Mesa) Watt, Jr., great niece Karmen Salmons, and great nephew Thomas Watt III.

Respecting Joseph's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to St. Philip and James Catholic School in Canal Fulton. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2 P.M.-5 P.M. at the Canal Grille 2223 Locust St. Canal Fulton, Ohio 44614.
