IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josephine "Jo"
A. (Leno) Altieri
March 12, 1929 – May 14, 2013
Josephine Ann Altieri
(nee Leno)
Josephine Altieri passed away peacefully at home following an extended illness, on May 14, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Jo was born in Canton, Ohio to parents Louise and Lawrence Leno. She graduated from Timken High School. She held numerous jobs in retail in downtown Canton in her younger years. She retired as the Head Cook at North Canton Hoover High School. Jo worked for the Stark County Sheriff Department as a special deputy. She screened job applicants and placed auxiliary staff and full time deputies in jobs assignments. She was a member of the congregation at St. Paul's Church in North Canton where she served as former President of the Altar and Rosary Society and President of the Women's Guild. She loved to cook her Italian specialties and entertain the priests of the parish. Jo had a fun loving nature and "devilish" sense of humor. Her best times were spent with her family and friends. She made each and every one feel special-especially her grandchildren. There are so many wonderful memories of being with Grandma and Papa: homemade waffles, coffee Sundays, and making pizza. Jo loved music, dancing, cooking and entertaining. Jo is survived by her loving husband Donato (Dan) Altieri to whom she was married for 110 wonderful years (55 for her and 55 for him!!!). She is also survived by her children Sgt Major Dan (Kovette) Altieri and Antonetta Altieri Crump; grandchildren Robbie Siladie, Anthony and Joe Altieri, Alexis and Grant Crump, and Anthony Snively,; sisters Louise Rossetti and Norma (Bob) McMaster; sister in laws Mary Altieri and Clara Altieri, and brother in law Prosper Altieri and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents Louise and Lawrence Leno, her siblings Madalyn Palmieri, Jenny Birone, Al Leno, Lawrence Leno, Tony Leno, Pete Leno, and Nick Leno, brother in laws Ralph Altieri, Al Altieri, Anthony Altieri, Carmin Altieri, and sister in law Josephine Angelo. The family would like to give a special thanks to Harbor Light Hospice-especially Brian and Shyanne who provided excellent care to her in her final months. Friends and family may call on Saturday May 18, 2013 at the Rossi Funeral Home from 1-3 pm. Services will immediately follow the calling hours. Interment will take place at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a later date. In –lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to the St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton( building fund).
