March 22, 1929 – January 16, 2018
Katherine "Kay" Mae Pujazon, a ge 88, of Canton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16 th at Bethany Nursing Home with family at her side. She was born March 22, 1929 in Irwin, Pennsylvania to William and Janet (Winter) Bawn. The family moved to Canton when she was a young child. Kay was a 1948 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. While at Timken, she enjoyed playing trombone in the band. Upon graduation, she auditioned and became one of the George Bird's Musical Majorettes for the Cleveland Browns who performed during the half-time shows. Throughout the years, she worked at Ohio Bell, Timken Mercy Hospital, Willow Springs and retired from Skyland Pines Golf Course. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and listening to music. Kay had a big heart and smile, loving time spent with her family and friends whom she would help in any way she could. She especially enjoyed laughing in the backyard with her close friends Mary Lou and Marie. Kay is survived by her devoted children, Kathy (Bill) Meers, Maria (Jim) Thompson of North Canton; grandchildren Dan (Jessica) Meers of Chadds Ford, PA, Niki Meers of North Canton, and Hannah Thompson of Chicago, IL., great granddaughter Zoe Kennedy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Joseph, who passed away March 6, 2015 and her parents, siblings and in-laws Bonnie (Vern) Hart, Ruth (Elmer) Gaug, Bill (Fran) Bawn. Friends may call Friday, January 19 th 6-8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, and on Saturday, January 20 th one hour prior to the 11 am service. Interment will be held at North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spanish-American Women's Club Scholarship Fund, 1956 Opal St. Louisville, Ohio 44641. The family would like to thank the Dr. Baum, Abby Baum and the staff at Bethany Nursing Home for their tender care.
